Posted by FJ Leto on August 25, 2021Does the very thought of grocery shopping leave you feeling stressed? You’re not alone! We all set out for the store with the best of intentions to fill our carts with healthy foods, but when push comes to shove, that can be easier said than done.

- Make a list. With a list to go by, you’re leaving less room for those impulse purchases. We’re talking to you, snack aisle! Let your list be your guide and your focus.
- Shop the perimeter. The healthiest foods are found in the perimeter of the store. Avoid those middle aisles as much as you can. This will help your wallet too.
- Choose REAL food. Choose foods with little to no processing. (Think produce, beans, legumes, and grains). The easiest way to do this is to fill your cart up with things that do not come in a package, box can or bag first.
- Be a label detective. We’re often preoccupied with looking at nutrition labels that ingredient labels get overlooked. Avoid products with long lists of ingredients or words that you can’t pronounce. This also helps find “real” food as mentioned above.
We hope you find these tips helpful. What are some tricks up your sleeve to make grocery shopping as healthy and seamless as possible?
