How to make meat-free feel like a reward.

Eating a plant based diet may sound intimidating to some, maybe impossible to others. How can I live without meat? Where will I get my protein? Will I ever feel full and satisfied?

These are common concerns, and fair ones at that. Many of us have been eating meat almost every day of our entire lives and it may be a scary thought to go without it.

But fear not!

There are many magical sources of meaty goodness in the plant kingdom, and I think the one that rules them all is the mushroom.

Many mushrooms not only taste and feel like our furry, finned and feathered friends you may favor for dinner, they are low in calories, packed with protein, and filled with micronutrients like B and D vitamins, potassium and selenium. On top of that, they are relatively easy to find and easy to prepare.

So whether you’re testing out some animal-free meals, on a plant based cleanse, or a full blown leaf eater, if you want some meat – eat some shrooms.
